Update 12/06/11

Here some updates for week.

Wow! Already December...man oh man weeks goes flying fast in this career.

so I been up to, I been helping the Argonauts team with there website from scratch with a PHP language system, as first time learn php it been very interesting and fact learn the logic as far basic mofication  I was able to pass info from a form to s actual database and store the data in it. The form had valuation section before information gets send to the database. Its uses a method called regular expression for a example: /^\w[-._\w]*\w@\w[-._\w]*\w\.\w{2,8}$/ this may look like gibberish to us however, this  gibberish as see it is really a validation code for checking emails format. lets me enplane more about this code function: say Mr.Bob enter his email which is "bobsmith@gmail.com" in a email field and click submit then form load page was set in code any code can use this /^\w[-._\w]*\w@\w[-._\w]*\w\.\w{2,8}$/  check if his email address is vald which is true and then it is up to the code to do next. now say if by accident forgot put @ in the field the code would test field and say false then its up to code to do from here.

Now  lets move on, and talk about games, yes update on level 2 which is getting code for our Water fountain with multiply height. How? well here script modifly from my bus script made for level 1 and add more variables and arrays which allow me to do this.
Now if you also notes the level has now a ground texture that all that goes to my good friend and great animation Mike S. was so kind of make ground and if you were look at your manchine it look awesome bad side of this in video recorder anyways ground has a low memory cost then last ground level he build for level 1.

PS next week will be have lot more video then text...hint...hint!
On that note have good night or day again deepens on the time you read this post!

Update 11/15/11

Here this weeks update,

again sorry for not update last week me and my both team has been going though some sprint ending crunch. However I do have my first team burn down chart for Sprint 2.
Sprint 2
Now this chart look really bad from our prevues chart in sprint 1. However in sprint 1 we had 277 points in this sprint we had 338 points and there was large load of work. By end of the sprint 2 we figure out as group that we had some work get not getting pass right way from the done column. or fact we had large amount of task in feature team and my opinion too few member per team that had large amount of work like get frame up for level 2 and 3.

Moving on ever heard of  Ruby on Rails? Well, Ruby on Rails deal with database controller. At first I thought it was going be rough for me to self teach and apply this new language. However I starting to like Ruby on Rails, it most different from the other languages that I have self teach and apply in the past. The reason I'm learning Ruby on Rails is to be able to use a database to pass and collect information on a website I built.

So with that news and that update, its time to end this week update so, have a great weekend everyone and see you next week for next weekly update!

Update 11/4/11

Here a SUPER update!

Yes, a SUPER update, since it will be covering two weeks of Work I have done for this team yes, but first the news, I be work on editing my blog to be more readable I know writing and documentation is important but this skill not my greatest skill set however I'm working on that. However, I will find way to get this around this issue, like video updates or mix of both.

So here the update on Level 1.

On the left side were I started for level 1 the dummy object were remove were getting replace with real game object.

Here on right side is recent view of level one. This is in edit mode but when I hit the play button...

Now the next photo on left is level one with play mode on now the level is not with camera since, camera is not fully build. If you notes from last photo of the light pole with light closest to us is almost off. We have attach a script to allow the light to flicker by changing the Light Intensity at random.

The photo on the right is to show that script is really flicking light light Intensity. Now if have not notes the grid is actual on top of the object  not on the bottom. This is due to a modify script I did that each grid pieces has Boolean or true or false holder and what ever person click true transform the gird position to that height.

So with that its time end the update before I do I be trying to get the in screen recording in for next week update.

Update 10/19/11

OK Here update for the week:

Who says game design is not a danger environment. Well guess again, doing simulation movement for our charter sound easy and painless, well I guess I did not get that memo. During one of the concept of charter jumping down from simple Acton and went very wrong. Were I could barley move my left hand and if did I would have shooting pain and not able pick up anything with it however, the next day was better then that day I'm am able to type with out pain and able to hold object for time period depend how height it is with additional prize for this stunt a nice size bruise in my left hand plum. However since it was concept it was not film, will not able show you what really happen that day but next week I want to attempt it again and film it but this time not damage my left hand.

with that painful news out the way to good news our team has finish our first sprint 1 and here is the burn down chart for it:
OK how you read this chart, the on the Y axis is total schedule velocity of 277 points for each feature parts of that epic card. Now in Agile Epic will mean SUPER large which is need to be break up into workable pieces called feature and, that gets break up too, into task which is pick by the person who want it (volunteer work.) anyways you can probably guess what X axis repentance? Well just in case you don't know what it is, the X axis is  marking number of days from September 19, 2011 to October 17, 2011 which is our end of sprint 1. In the graph there two lines Red and Gray line, the gray line is estimate of work flow to complete this sprint. The red line is our work flow during the sprint. Now normally a graph goes up which mean it is good and down is bad, well that opposite in here; In SilCat up is bad and down is good. if you notes during the days on X axis September 25 to 26 went below the gray line that mean we when very Good and we were getting stuff done and pass quickly. Another thing if you notes is that some of the red lines were going straight line going across days that mean we did not update it or forgot to pass task right way. lastly notes over by Y axis is number 23 that was remainder of our point that we did not finish in this sprint, normally this SUPER bad thing and this number does not reach 0 at end of sprint that mean we miss our milesone and get no pay.  However this school environment pluss is our first time using silcat and which we have keep our progress very close to the gray line. compare to prevues team, this mean we just get better and strong.

Update 10/13/11

OK today update, so were about to end sprint 1 by next week and move to sprint 2. Sprint 2 in tales of moving Alpha task to there Beta state or add more task that was not as imported be part of Sprint 1. I have to say Alpha went very well for me and my team. Next post I will be showing how our team did in Silver Catalyst from Sprint 1 to Sprint 2.
